Here at Ottena we are extremely proud of our range of teak garden furniture and the different products we are able to offer. But one in particular is a long time favourite of all of us here at Ottena, the Adirondack chair.
Ever since we started our company way back in 2015, we have continued to work with the same supplier for our garden furniture. This has proved to be a great relationship and we continue to work together to evolve our products. As with all of our garden furniture, our garden Adirondacks are manufactured from sustainably sourced teak that comes from Javanese plantations. All teak used must come from a sustainable source and is certificated accordingly. No teak garden furniture can be exported from Indonesia without this accreditation. So you can enjoy our teak Adirondacks safe in the knowledge you have purchased a piece of renewable, eco friendly furniture.
The Adirondack can also be known as a Muskoka chair or sometimes a Cape Cod chair. Whatever you call them, you will be getting a laid back relaxing chair that will give many hours of comfort in your chosen outdoor location.
The Adirondack chair bears its name from the Adirondack Mountains in the state of New York. They were created by Thomas Lee back in 1903, who wanted to create the “perfect outdoor chair”. The sloping design of the chair was to accommodate for the uneven terrain in the mountains whilst still giving exceptional comfort. Hence the Adirondack chair was born!
Our solid teak Adirondack chairs are our most popular selling item and it is not difficult to see why. With its sloping backrest and seat base, and large comfortable arm rests, the garden Adirondack is the perfect chair for relaxing in after a hard day. Over the years we have gradually improved our design of this chair by modifying various fittings and fixings to make it easier to assemble when it arrives with you. The armrest sections are much larger, so that you can not only relax in your chair but the armrests will almost double up as a small side table capable of holding a light snack or a glass of something nice!
Our Adirondacks will require some light assembly when they arrive with you, but don’t worry, it is not difficult. The chair will be marked with small numbered/lettered labels that will guide which part fits into which position. The Adirondack chair comes in four pieces and bolts together with the provided brass allen key bolts. A new upgrade for 2025 is that we are now using stainless steel fittings for all of our teak garden furniture, helping to increase the life of your Adirondack even further.

We have written instructions available here and also a small instructional video that will run through the best way to assemble your new teak Adirondack chair. This video is certainly not going to win any Oscars but we hope it will give you the help you need, and a few hints and tips to help with the assembly of your Adirondacks. But always remember, if you are unsure, before you continue to build your Adirondack chair and possibly damage it, please drop us an email for some assistance. We would prefer you to email us with what you think may be a silly question, rather than damage your new Adirondack chair. We cannot take responsibility for damage caused during assembly.
