Reclaimed Teak Reborn Rinsey Farmhouse 1 8 stacking 6 wicker teak chairs cream 003

Six at the Table: Inside Our 6 Seater Reclaimed Teak Dining Sets

Six is the number most homes end up planning around. It covers a family of four with room for grandparents, a dinner party with two couples and a friend who always stays late, or a Christmas lunch where nobody has to perch on a stool at the corner. Go smaller and you are borrowing chairs every time anyone visits. Go bigger and the table can start to dominate the room on an ordinary Tuesday.

Our 6 seater dining sets sit right in that sweet spot. Like the rest of our Lifetime Teak range, every one is made from reclaimed, hand-selected solid teak. Following on from our look at the 4 seater dining sets, this post walks through the three table designs in the six seater range, the difference between chairs and benches, and how to work out which set will actually fit your room.

Timber With a Past, Built for Your Future

Reclaimed teak is timber that has already been used once, rescued and re-crafted into something new. Because it has had time to settle, it carries a depth of colour and a swirl of grain and knots that freshly milled wood simply does not have. Every table and chair is slightly different, and that individuality is the point.

It is also a more thoughtful way to make furniture. Reusing high-quality timber that is already in circulation keeps it out of waste and reduces demand for new resources. You can read more about how we approach this on our Eco and Sustainable Promises page.

On a larger table, all of this matters more. A 2.2m top in reclaimed teak is a long run of grain, and it becomes the natural focal point of the room in a way a veneered or painted table never quite manages.

Treen 1.2m Round

The Treen is the one to choose if you want six seats without a long table. A round top means nobody is stuck at the end, everyone can join the same conversation, and the set feels generous without filling the room. The gently chamfered edge and angled legs give it a quietly architectural look that works in modern kitchen diners just as well as more traditional homes.

It comes with six solid teak round back chairs, and you can add a set of six cream or grey seat cushions when you order.

Rinsey 1.8m

The Rinsey 1.8m is the everyday all-rounder. It seats six comfortably with three along each side, fits most standard dining rooms, and has the relaxed farmhouse character that makes it feel at home with family life. It is also the most flexible set in the range, with every chair and cushion combination available, plus the option to swap one side for a bench.

Kynance 2.2m

The Kynance is built for proper hosting. Its 2.2m top leaves room for serving dishes down the middle, a laptop at one end during the week, and the full spread at Christmas without anything balanced on the edge. Clean lines and a distinctive leg arrangement give it a calm, architectural feel that sits comfortably between modern and farmhouse styles.

It is also the best value way to get a long table in the range, starting at the same price as the 1.8m Rinsey.

Rinsey 2.2m

The Rinsey 2.2m takes the farmhouse character of the 1.8m version and stretches it out. Six people get real elbow room, and when the occasion calls for it there is space to squeeze in an extra chair or two. It is our statement six seater, made for large dining rooms and big open-plan kitchens where the table is the heart of the home.

Chairs or a Bench?

With six people around a table, the choice between six chairs and a bench changes how the set feels and works day to day.

Six chairs give everyone their own defined space and back support, which is what you want for long, lingering dinners. Our round back chairs have a sculpted curved backrest and a gently dished seat, and they stack two high, so you can clear floor space for cleaning or a bit of extra room between meals.

A bench on one side makes the set feel more relaxed and sociable. It is brilliant for families with young children, who can shuffle along to make room, and it slides fully under the table when not in use, which visually opens up the room. Benches also make it easy to fit an extra person on a busy evening.

If you are torn, think about who sits at your table most often. Regular dinner parties lean towards chairs. Busy family kitchens tend to love a bench.

Round Back or Wicker?

The two chair styles share the same reclaimed teak quality but create quite different moods.

Round back chairs are solid teak from top to bottom, so the grain and knots of the timber are on show across the whole set. They suit anyone who wants a warm, cohesive, all-wood look.

Wicker chairs pair a teak frame with a woven seat and back. The texture lightens a long table visually, which can be especially welcome on a 2.2m set, and they work beautifully in coastal, country and Scandi-inspired interiors.

Picking Your Cushions

Cream and grey seat cushions are available across most of the range, or you can leave them off entirely.

  • Cream lifts the warm honey tones of the teak and keeps a long table feeling bright and inviting.
  • Grey brings a calmer, more tailored look that suits cooler colour schemes and contemporary spaces.
  • No cushions keeps the focus on the timber and is the easiest option to live with if the table sees a lot of family traffic.

Will It Fit? Measuring Your Room

The simplest way to check is to add the table size to the clearance you need around it. Allow roughly 90cm on every side that has seating, which gives enough room to pull a chair out, sit down and let someone walk behind.

  • Treen 1.2m round: around 3m x 3m of clear floor space.
  • Rinsey 1.8m: around 3.6m of room length, plus the table width and 90cm either side.
  • Kynance or Rinsey 2.2m (90cm wide): around 4m x 2.7m.

A quick trick is to mark the table outline on the floor with masking tape, then place a couple of your existing chairs around it. It shows you in seconds whether the room still feels comfortable to move through.

If you regularly need more than six seats, have a look at our 8 seater dining sets. If six feels like too many for everyday life, the 4 seater dining sets may suit you better.

Living With Reclaimed Teak Through the Seasons

Indoors, teak asks very little of you. Wipe up spills promptly, give it a clean with a soft, damp cloth when needed, and use coasters or mats under very hot dishes.

As the heating goes on in autumn and winter, it is worth knowing that solid timber moves very slightly with changes in temperature and humidity. This is completely natural and simply the wood settling into your home. Where possible, keep the table a little away from radiators and log burners. Over the years the teak will deepen into a richer patina, so it genuinely looks better the more it is lived with. For more advice, take a look at our care and maintenance guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a 1.2m round table really seat six? Yes. The Treen is designed to seat six comfortably, and because a round table has no corners, the space is shared evenly with nobody squeezed in at an end.

What is the difference between the Kynance and the Rinsey 2.2m? Both share the same 2.2m x 90cm top. The Kynance has a cleaner, more architectural leg arrangement, while the Rinsey has a more traditional farmhouse character. The choice really comes down to the look you prefer.

Do the chairs stack? The round back chairs stack, and we recommend no more than two at a time.

Will my set have marks or knots? Yes, and that is part of its charm. Reclaimed teak shows natural variation in tone, grain and markings, so no two sets are identical.

Is delivery free? We offer free delivery to UK mainland addresses on orders over £99. You can find full details on our delivery page.
