Before you choose
Choosing a practical garden furniture layout in Somerset
Create a useful dining area
If meals outside are the priority in your Somerset garden, start with the table and the room used by occupied chairs. Keep a route to the rest of the garden. A smaller dining arrangement with a separate bench can be more useful than filling the whole patio with seats.
Consider the particular setting
A sheltered terrace and an open rural position need different planning. Choose a suitable stable surface and dry storage for cushions. For a holiday property or business, tell the team about the intended use so you can compare the actual furniture specifications before buying.
For care and finish advice, read our teak furniture care guide. For the full product ranges, use our patio sets, garden benches and garden chairs collections.

Sustainably sourced teak garden furniture
Our teak garden furniture is manufactured in Indonesia, using sustainably sourced Teak and supported by replanting schemes. Using timber that will last means you won't have to buy 'fast' furniture and replace it every year.
Materials in our Somerset garden furniture.
Our ranges of teak patio sets, benches and chairs are all manufactured from eco-friendly solid teak. You can be sure that garden furniture in Somerset is handmade by our manufacturer from timber that is sourced from only sustainably controlled Javanese plantations. A SVLK certification scheme is in operation to ensure that the timber only ever comes from these sutainable plantations. This certification scheme ensures the legitimacy of the teak used. The SVLK scheme is closely monitored to ensure no foul play and to be sure the plantations remain sustainable.
All of our garden furniture in Somerset is mainly constructed from natural timber products, using traditional joinery methods to help reduce the use of unnecessary metals and plastics. Inevitably some of our furniture does use these materials but we try to keep the use of these to a minimum and we are always looking at ways to improve.
Timber sourcing and our environmental commitments
At Ottena we are always looking to improve our carbon footprint and to ensure we are doing as much as possible to help protect our environment whilst still delivering you with fantastic products. We only use eco-sourced timber in our manufacture and we are also always looking to reduce the amount of plastics that we use. We do use bubble wrap in our packaging but this is made from recycled plastics and is also fully recyclable once not needed anymore.
To further help to protect our environment for future generations we have introduced a fantastic tree planting scheme to our business. This scheme we think is amazing, it means that for every order placed with us we will pay for a tree to be planted. A great initiative I'm sure you will agree.
