Having a memorial for a much missed loved one or a special moment in time is something that can help to keep those memories alive. Choosing the right memorial bench and its special location is something that is important so it can be treasured for many years to come. In this latest blog from us here at Ottena, we will take a look through our range of solid teak memorial benches and look at what we think fits the “memorial bench” label the best. We will also take a look at where is the best place to have your memorial bench and what can be added to the teak bench to make it an extra special memorial.
Here at Ottena we have a range of six different solid teak garden benches that would all make a special tribute to a much missed loved one, or look great as a place to remember a special occasion in someone’s life. From our quite simple but very effective backless benches through to our superb looking Victoria solid teak bench, there is certainly to be something to suit.
A backless bench is not necessarily the first choice when it comes to a memorial bench but they are an understated piece of garden furniture that will sit proudly in a special location so people can come and enjoy the area or view. Like all of our teak park benches they are available in three different sizes, seating two, three or four people comfortably. This allows you to choose a suitable size and style that will fit in with the desired location for your memorial bench. Whether it be a small corner of your garden, right through to large seaside quay area, there is a commemorative bench to suit all locations and requirements.

Moving through our range we have our classic Catherine and Eleanor solid teak garden benches. These teak benches are probably what you would call your traditional park benches with the Catherine probably the most recognisable style to us all. These two garden benches are so very popular, with a slight variation on design between the two but still maintaining the sturdy and strong nature required from an outdoor bench.

Next in our range of remembrance benches comes probably the most popular ones that we supply to our customers for a memorial. These are the Elizabeth and Victoria solid teak garden benches, constructed using a much thicker and chunkier amount of teak to give a very strong and sturdy garden bench. This makes them the perfect choice for any memorial bench that is likely to see very high amounts of use and traffic over its lifetime. The Elizabeth is again the traditional park bench style with very straight clean lines but for something a little different why not take a look at the Victoria, with its elegantly curved backrest. A personal favourite of ours, the Victoria bench is something we are always extremely proud to supply as it just looks absolutely stunning. We have even supplied one of these to a member of the Royal family where it now sits pride of place at their residence – pretty great for a small family run business from the Westcountry!

Finally, how could we forget our beautiful solid teak Lutyens bench. Probably again not everyone’s first choice as a memorial but nonetheless still a simply stunning piece of garden furniture that will make a special memorial in any outdoor location.

Once you have made your choice of bench you want to be sure that the location you have chosen for your memorial bench is going to be the right place for it to make those memories last for many years to come. Here at Ottena we have supplied a massive number of memorial benches that are now sitting pride of place in special locations around the country. From ones sat on tees at golf courses to special corners of a garden or park, or even sat on a quayside next to the water as a special location loved by the much missed loved one, there are endless locations that commemorative benches can be located in. The only important things to consider are mounting the bench to a suitable base, especially if it is going to be out in a public space. A suitable concrete base is probably the best place to mount the bench so that with the aid of one of our anchor kits, the memorial bench can be securely attached to the ground. If it is going into a private garden area then positioning and mounting will be a lot easier as it will not be subject to public use so where you place it can be entirely up to you.
To give you a little taster of where you can mount your memorial benches we have attached a photo to show where one of our customers has placed their bench in a very special location next to a river.

To really make your memorial bench that bit more special take a look at our range of brass and stainless steel memorial plaques. Available in a wide range of sizes and shapes from something quite small and understated to larger ones if a lot of text is required. These are easily mounted on the top rail of your chosen memorial bench for that finishing, personal touch.
There are many options and styles available but if you still would like some extra help with your choices then please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] and we will be extremely happy to assist.
