Sending wooden garden furniture through any courier network is always a challenge and we rely heavily on our trusted couriers to get this done for us as quickly as possible. In this latest blog, we will look at how your new teak garden furniture will be delivered and the packaging you can expect.
Depending on the items of teak patio furniture you order, the items will be either delivered via Fedex or for larger and bulkier items we use a pallet delivery service. Items that are sent through the Fedex network will be either packaged into cardboard boxes or wrapped in bubble wrap and shrink wrap to protect them whilst on route to you. We have recently transitioned to change our packaging across to cardboard boxes. This not only makes handling the items much easier but will also help to cut down on the amount of bubble wrap and plastic shrink wrap that we have to use. Although the bubble wrap can be recycled, it is a bit of an inconvenience to you to take it to a relevant recycling centre so moving across to the new cardboard boxes is something we are in the process of doing.
Despite the move to the new cardboard box packaging, there are still times when we will resort back to the bubble wrap for certain items that are particularly awkward to send through courier networks. As we go forward, we will reduce this as the new cardboard boxes continue to filter through from our supplier.
Depending on what you have ordered will govern how many packages you may receive. Once the items have been picked in our warehouse, they will be loaded on to the delivery system and you will receive an email update from the relevant courier advising when the items will be delivered.
Like any courier delivery, all of these dates and times can be subject to change. We send all of our items on a next working day service but never 100% guarantee this as there are too many factors that can influence the delivery getting to you next day. The emails from the relevant courier will inform you of any unforeseen delays.
Any orders that are being delivered by Fedex will arrive in a van and if nobody is at home to receive the delivery, they will be left in a safe location. If there is somewhere specific you would like Fedex to leave your order then please add these notes at the checkout when placing your order and we will pass this to the courier.
With regards to our larger orders that will be sent via a pallet network, this is also a next working day service but for some more remote locations across the UK, this can sometimes be longer. The items will be packaged onto the pallet with plastic strapping holding them in place and then black shrink wrap is placed around the items to help keep the elements out whilst on the move to you. Once with you the shrink wrap can be removed and the straps cut and the items removed. At this point we must advise that some of our items can be very heavy and bulky so it is always best to have some help unloading items from your pallet as we would not want anyone to hurt themselves or damage their new garden furniture in any way.
One thing to remember is that our pallet deliveries are a “kerbside delivery”. This means that the pallet is delivered to the edge of the property, the roadside or driveway using a tail-lift type vehicle and a pallet truck. The driver will place the pallet on stable, flat ground but will not move the pallet inside or into a garage. Please also note that the equipment they use to move the pallets will not move over rough ground (e.g. gravel driveway) so please ensure you are at home to receive your delivery and also have assistance in moving your items to your desired location at your home. The driver will not unpack the pallet, move any items or remove any items from the pallet. Once you have removed your items, it is also your responsibility to move and discard of the pallet that was used to transport your goods. This is standard practice with all pallet deliveries.
We hope that this blog has given you some insight into the delivery process of your new solid teak garden furniture. If you have any questions about any aspect of the delivery of your order, please do not hesitate to contact us with your enquiries as we would not want to cause any undue stress for either you or the delivery drivers if any crucial information about the delivery has not been shared beforehand.
Send any queries to [email protected] and we will be more than happy to help.
