Teak Garden Benches – A Timeless Classic

A garden bench is one of the most recognisable items of garden furniture. Whether it is constructed from timber, metal or recycled plastic, there is a style and material out there to suit everyone. At Ottena, our range of teak garden benches are the perfect addition to any outdoor space. We have supplied happy customers with private gardens and also heavy traffic commercial locations such as Bicester Village with our teak benches, so we are sure you will find our range has the size and style to suit your needs. Our teak commemorative benches also make a perfect memorial for a sorely missed loved one. With the addition of an engraved bench plaque with a special message, these are a traditional memorial to commemorate your loved ones. In this post we will take a look at the six different styles of teak park benches that we have available and discuss the differences between them.

A little break from the norm is our teak backless bench. Like our full range of solid teak garden benches, there are available in three standard sizes, a 4ft, 5ft or 6ft version which ideally seats 2, 3 or 4 people respectively. These particular benches are fantastic as they are very compact and will not overpower your garden. If you have a small outdoor area or space is at a premium for you then the backless garden bench could be just what you are looking for. Discreet and understated, it will provide hours of comfort in your outdoor space for soaking up those warm, long and sunny summer evenings. These look great against a walled garden in a sunny corner or outside a coffee shop! Another great feature of the backless bench is that they can be used as seating with one of our teak garden tables. They can be easily manoeuvred and provide a more relaxed alternative to conventional garden dining. Manufactured from sustainably sourced solid teak and assembled with the provided brass allen key bolts, they are very simple to build and enjoy.

Next are our Catherine and Eleanor teak garden benches. These benches are probably the most recognised designs and fit in with the traditional park bench style and look. Like all of our outdoor wooden benches, these are also available in 3 different sizes, a 4ft, 5ft and 6ft design. Constructed from solid teak and built using traditional joinery methods, these benches will be the perfect addition to any outdoor space. The construction of the Catherine and Eleanor garden benches is very similar, with the main difference being the design and feel of the backrest. The Catherine is what I would call your traditional wooden park bench, with slats that run from left to right on the seat base and a regular upright design on the back rest. The Eleanor is very similar in construction and specification, but has a much different design to give it a stunning and alternative appearance. The Eleanor teak garden bench has many more slats on both the back rest and seat base, which are narrower, with the slats on the seat base running front to back rather than left to right. Both the back rest and seat base slats have a very slight curve in them to give that added bit of comfort and luxury to your solid teak garden bench.

A level up from the Catherine and Eleanor teak park benches would be our chunky Elizabeth and Victoria teak garden benches. The Elizabeth park bench is probably one of our most popular choices when it comes to choosing a teak garden bench. This has the classical look of a traditional park bench with its left to right slats on the seat base and its timeless upright slats in the back rest. We have recently supplied a number of these traditional teak benches to Bicester Village, so if you have ever been you are most likely to have taken a seat on one of our teak garden benches! Due to its thick, chunky design and traditional style, this is also one of the most popular choices for a memorial bench. The construction of the Victoria and Elizabeth garden bench is much thicker, made of solid teak to make a very strong, sturdy and long lasting bench. The leg sections of the Elizabeth/Victoria benches are almost 60mm square, with the Catherine/Eleanor being approximately 45mm square. These are without doubt a very strong and solid teak garden bench that is especially suited to high traffic locations. The Victoria is a personal favourite of ours. Having supplied one of these to a Royal residence, it is the perfect choice to transform a sunny corner of your garden and add a touch of class. This bench is made to the same high specification as the Elizabeth, but has a thick curved top bar across the back rest to give it an elegant look and feel.

Finally, we have another easily recognisable but timeless teak garden bench, the Lutyens bench. This design of bench was inspired by the famous English architect Sir Edward Lutyens. Based on one of his designs, the Lutyens garden bench has beautiful scrolled arm rests coupled with an intricate lattice design to the backrest, giving an unmistakeable appearance known by many and very highly sought after. Manufactured from solid sustainably sourced teak and like all of our stunning teak garden furniture, our teak Lutyens garden benches have a fine sanded finish to give a product that is both strong and stunning to look at. Our Lutyens teak garden benches are available in three different sizes: 4ft Lutyens teak bench, 5ft Lutyens teak bench and finally our 6ft Lutyens teak bench, allowing you to get the right size for your outdoor space.

With many different designs available in our range of teak garden benches, we are sure there is something to suit your tastes and requirements.
