Memorial Plaque – The Perfect Way to Remember a Loved One

It can be simply heart breaking losing a loved one, whether it is a close family member, friend or even a family pet that has sadly passed. As hard as it might be, having something to remember our loved ones by can be special, allowing you all to remember the good times that were had.

Here at Ottena, we have a range of memorial plaques available that can be fitted to any product in our range of teak garden furniture. Whether it is one of our chairs, tables or probably the most popular choice, our solid teak park benches. Fixing one of our brass or stainless steel plaques to one of our solid teak products can make the perfect memorial to that loved one.

Also, remember a plaque can be used to celebrate someone or something. We have had many customers that have purchased some teak furniture as, for example, a retirement gift for a colleague that is leaving so that they can be remembered for all of the good times and their hard work. There are many different options that you can use a plaque for, from a memorial for a missed loved one to a celebration of certain achievements that have been made.

At Ottena, we offer two different styles of plaques made from either brass or stainless steel. Different sizes are available to suit your own personal tastes and requirements or the product that it will be mounted on to. The different sizes available range from 4” x 2” up to 10” x 2” but if there is a slightly different size you may like then please do not hesitate to get in contact with us and we will gladly enquire with our engravers to see if the specific sizing required is available. So, whether it is just the name of someone that you would like on your plaque, a funny quote or memorial, your options are almost endless.

But what do you write on a plaque? Well, I suppose this is a very personal choice. The most popular text when it comes to remembering a recently departed loved one is to have their name and dates laid out over a couple of lines, plus maybe a memorable quote to remember them by. This will then give everyone who reads it not only a clear idea of who the memorial is remembering, but also a chance to reflect on their life. Alternatively, as some of our customers have done in the past, simply put the name of the person that you want to remember, creating a tribute and lasting memory of that much missed loved one.

As well as your plaque being a memorial to a much missed loved one, they can also be a way of celebrating something very special. Another popular choice is, for example, to have a solid teak garden bench with a plaque attached that celebrates your parents wedding anniversary. This is something that I have done in the past, one of our two seater Victoria solid teak benches sits proudly in my parents’ garden with a brass plaque attached to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. They love it and spend many hours sat at home, admiring their handy work in the garden!

When it comes to what you put on your plaque, whether it be a memorial or a tribute to someone or something, there really is no hard and fast rule with regards to what you put on your plaque. The only deciding factor will be the amount of text that you require. If you have a lot that you would like to say, then a larger plaque would be required. Typically, our plaques can fit a maximum of 255 characters. This is to ensure that the plaque can still look beautiful and not look too cramped. If you do require a lot of next, please do get in touch as I’m sure we can find a solution for you.

As you can see, having a plaque attached to an item of our solid teak furniture can transform it into a loving memory of a loved one or a celebration of a persons achievements, the possibilities are endless. If you require any assistance in choosing your plaque or want any more information, please email us at hello@ottena.co.uk with the details of the text and plaque required and one of our team will be very happy to assist you.
