Is it Worth Buying Cheap Garden Furniture?

As we are all very aware, being careful with our money and how we spend it is so important. The last thing any of us want to do is make a purchase and then end up regretting it down the line. Many different items and products are available in differing qualities, but is it better to go for the cheapest or will this back fire at a later date?

Garden furniture can be a luxury purchase and you always want to be sure that what you buy is going to be the best option for your outdoor area and fit in with what you want to achieve from purchasing these products. There are many different types of styles and materials available out there when it comes to outdoor furniture. You can choose from solid wood, rattan, metal and plastic, the list is pretty endless. But is it worth going for cheap garden furniture? How long will it last? What is the best material to go for? Again, there are so many questions to consider when searching for patio furniture.

Like so many things in life there is always a massive choice and it can be difficult to decide, but hopefully we can shed a little light on what we feel is the best option for you when it comes to buying garden furniture

Here at Ottena, we specialise in solid teak garden furniture and carry extensive ranges of products from teak benches, teak garden chairs and teak patio dining sets. Having specialised in the supply of teak furniture for almost 10 years now we believe that teak will give you the best value for money when it comes to your garden furniture needs. We will look at the pros and cons of cheap furniture and why we feel that solid teak is the best option for you, when it comes to getting that unloved outdoor area transformed into a stunning space to enjoy for many years to come.

When shopping for garden furniture, don’t be fooled by large retailers stating that their items are a one-off and when they are gone, they are gone. In our eyes this should cause massive alarm bells to start ringing! What happens if the product you have becomes faulty, how do they sort the issue if it’s a “when its gone, its gone” product? What if it breaks and you need spares for it, cheap, in our eyes is not always the best solution. With the purchase of higher quality products there is going to be a much higher chance that the products will last for a longer period of time and hence in the long run saving you time and money as you will not be searching for and purchasing products on a regular basis due to the failure of the cheaper products.

We have been working with the same manufacturer ever since we started our business back in 2015 and have built an extremely good relationship with them. This has allowed us to ensure that the design of our products are the best they possibly can be. We have changed and tweaked designs over the years to not only improve on the overall quality and finish but to ensure they are the strongest and most reliable they can be. Being a small family run business, we all have items from within our range in our own gardens and can proudly say that most of them have been in our gardens for many years. I will be the first to admit that I do not treat/oil my teak furniture and that I do not have anywhere undercover to store it through the winter months. With that in mind, it is still as good as the day that I purchased it, despite needing a clean!

Ok, so I know what you are saying, teak garden furniture is not cheap! In comparison to some of the cheap metal and plastic furniture that some of the supermarkets or national garden retailers offer then yes, it is not cheap in comparison to those products. But in the long run, we feel that as our teak furniture has a much higher build quality and uses superior regenerative materials, our garden furniture will not deteriorate as rapidly. If you buy cheap plastic furniture, you’ll most likely be back in the market searching for new garden furniture in the not too distant future. Purchasing a higher quality product in the first instance will give you many more years of enjoyment from your patio furniture, saving you both time and money when it comes to purchasing your new garden bench or patio dining set.

Please do not take my word for it, come and take a look at our extensive range of solid teak garden furniture. We are proud to offer high quality products that are built to not only look stunning, but will last for many years and transform any garden, patio or balcony. If you have any questions or need some advice on what to choose then please send an email to hello@ottena.co.uk and we will be very happy to help you on your garden furniture journey!
